Wait, you guys switch from 2 to 1? We switch from 3 to 2. Also on a different weekend, but I knew that already. This one is new to me.

Lol in Germany clubs have to get a special permit to allow the club to be open past 12 am on Halloween because November 1st you’re not allowed to dance. Having a legal party that went after 12 am on Halloween was radical back when I was a teen

In a weird way I like that. It is such a funny and harmless way of defying social order to watch a forbidden movie and dance on one of these blacklisted days. It’s absolutely outdated and ridiculous but that makes the rule breaking somewhat wholesome.

And a real burden to clubs that want Halloween to be a good time for their patrons. Many Germans will report people having illegal fun even if nobody is actually harmed.

I never understood this argument because farmers are the least likely job to use the clock to tell them when to work… The idea of a farmer waiting for 8am to clock in is ridiculous.

Why cant farmers just set their alarm an hour earlier though, no need to drag everyone else into this

That’s a myth. Farmers in the US lobbied against the change. Animals and crops don’t care about the time, so it just meant they had to start work earlier on the clock.

If you check farmers’ out they can still do the same amount of work in daylight hours.

Daylight savings’ history is actually more white than you think. The law was passed by politicians that just wanted to golf earlier. Farmers are commonly used as the excuse because every accusations is a confession.

I was trying so hard to figure out why these tweets look weird, thinking maybe they were just fake tweets… Turns out these are “threads” from Threads and that’s why they look weird, but ngl, I genuinely did not know anyone used Threads.

I don’t understand. Every Halloween there is a weekend before or after (well almost) where we in the US get another hour to drink at a bar. I did it for 15 years straight. And that was 15 years ago.

Where is this that the clock goes from 2 to 1? Here in Europe it always goes from 3 to 2 or from 2 to 3 when it goes in the other direction.

While you’re not wrong, it should be mentioned that the same thing happens in most of the rest of the country too.

Does it? I remember that, 25 or so years ago when I lived in the central time zone, the switch happened at 12/1 am.

Maybe I’m misremembering. It was a long time ago.

It doesn’t really. It goes from 2:59 (DT) to 2:00 (ST). But if a place says they close at 02:00, I suppose they could choose to interpret that time as the second one.

In the spring, it goes from 1:59 (ST) to 3:00 (DT)

Why do I have to be the pendentic one that says it’s daylight saving and not daylight savings.
