I have the same logic about flossing personally, but I’ve asked my dentist/dental hygenist multiple times and they’ve all said the order for flossing doesn’t matter.
My dentist has also said the order doesn’t matter. My guess is that the benefits of flossing at all outweigh any small benefits from doing it in a specific order. I’m also assuming most dentists are just happy if you floss and don’t want to nitpick on technique unless it’s causing issues.
it’s more about practicalilty. when in flossing, stuff might get loosened but still be partially stuck in my wire, or just stick to be back of my teeth
if I floss first, I can just go straight to brushing and not have to get that little piece unstuck separately
this really helps to optimize my time efficiency in my life, allowing me precious more seconds to doomscroll
Toothpaste instructions often tell you to rinse with a small amount of water, but dentists here always say not to.
And floss before brushing, so you can rinse goop out before the toothpaste goes in.
