No, we’re all evolved with resistance to ancient diseases we already survived as a species. Usually, that’s not 100%, but the general idea. Anything else that burned out would be relatively minor. Viruses would be relatively unsophisticated and easily handled by our immune systems.
It’s why smallpox hit the Americas so hard, those people left and were isolated while smallpox ravaged the East. The Europeans, Africans, and Asians that came to the Americas were the ones descended from those that survived and could transmit smallpox.
Going to other way is the problem. If you time traveled 3000 years in the future, their version of COVID-5026 might be incredibly hard on you because you and your family didn’t survive COVID-3083. Mutations that helped people survive the Black Death also are connected to Chron’s disease. It’s wild stuff.
But that depends on disease changing, so it’s a slower things, like evolution.
Perhaps, but much less likely. Even this long after it, we still have traces of immunity to things that old. And a lot of our modern diseases are evolved from older ones, so resistance to the newer one can also help against the older version.
Still entirely possible that they get infected with something humans have lost immunity to, though.
Would this go both ways? Would the modern humans also get sick from ancient microorganisms that they’ve never been exposed to in modern times?
