The problem with doomerism/cynicism/nihilism is that it suppresses people’s will to enact positive change. People partake in it because in their mind it absolves them of responsibility, because there wasn’t a chance to begin with.
If that’s truly what someone thinks, then whatever. But they need to shut the fuck up about it and not spread it to others, because they’re trying to convince people to give up too. And that only leads to the world becoming worse.
If there was a pandemic and someone was going around coughing on everyone else, would you condone that? Because that’s not much different from this conversation

The problem with insulting somebody you disagree with is that it will rather solidify their opinion than make them reflect on it and change.
They weren’t going to change their opinions anyways. At least with calling them out there’s a chance they get shocked away from their bullshit

Learning and changing your opinions requires that you feel safe and not stressed or threatened.
