Microsoft says that Word for Windows will soon enable autosave and automatically save all new documents to the cloud by default.

    Theyve been trying it for 6 months plus, ya gotta click save somewhere else to save on your local machine

    “Your” files? No no no, rookie mistake. You see, you might think that just because you created them they are YOUR files, but since you wrote them using Microsoft’s software, on Microsoft’s OS, they are actually Microsoft’s files that they graciously license to you for limited use! Should have read all those EULAS, eh?

    … I don’t even friggin’ know if I should put an /s at the end - in the current tech dystopia it can actually be true.

    Eh? This ain’t new, they have been heavily pushing saving to OneDrive as the default since 2022.

    Anyway, if you must use Office, just know 2007 and 2013 have no cloud-by-default, just a shame their DRM schemes aren’t very up to date… 😉😉

    Cool, basically zero chance of people losing documents that they were working on. I’m sure no one will take issue with this helpful feature.
