Las Vegas Mayor Shelley Berkley issued a heartfelt plea to Canadian visitors this week, acknowledging the city’s tourism-dependent economy is suffering from a dramatic decline in international visitors, particularly from Canada, which represents the city’s largest international market.

“As the mayor of Las Vegas, I’m telling everybody in Canada, please come. We love you, we need you, and we miss you,” Berkley said during a press conference this week, where she addressed the multiple challenges facing the entertainment capital’s tourism industry.

The mayor’s latest comments echo concerns she first raised in an August press conference, where she painted a stark picture of the tourism decline.

“International travel is way down. People are not coming to the United States,” Berkley said last month. “’

Most of the comments are talking about ICE and Canadians disliking the current American regime, which is true. But also Vegas isn’t fun anymore. It’s so overpriced for what it is. The ruthless corporate nickel and diming exploitation has ruined Vegas as a destination.

If the mayor of Las Vegas wants people to visit, instead of begging Canadians to come back, try telling MGM and Caesars to entice visitors with some deals and value for their money.

      It’s ridiculously overpriced there now.

A high chance of being shipped to an Alligator Auschwitz Concentration (soon to be death) Camp and treated like what happened to the South Koreans. No thanks.

Also you americans seem to have forgotten that your fascist child rapist president threatened to annex Canada and continues to do so.

      Get bent.

Yeah I agree on it being overpriced. Visited Vegas last year and it was rough.

      • No cheap eats, buffets are all gone post-covid.
      • Tables have $25 minimums
      • Blackjack dealers have auto-shufflers for cards
      • $2 buy in to lose money at 000 roulette
      • Hotels are all crammed with service and resort fees
      • Majority of casino floor space is now dedicated to slots

Yeah, for me, the current political situation means I wouldn’t go there even if everything was free.

And the current Vegas pricing means I wouldn’t go there even if it was safe.

Though even if it was free and safe, it would still require some thought.
