Put aside for a second the question of whether a left government is feasible or not. Pretend it is.

Practical question: what would it mean for a newly elected left government to take a hammer to the capitalist state, the way Bannon talks about the trumpist takeover, by “flooding the zone”? Let’s say we get power tomorrow, what do we do so that by the time the right regroups we have completely changed the game in ways that the institutions (courts etc) don’t have time to react? How do we hurt them the way they hurt us?

Going off history as a guide, I’d expect the following:

Said leftist government would control Washington and the US for at least two decades. That’s what happened in the wake of FDR and the New Deal. In fact, term limits for the presidency didn’t exist until FDR.

Corporate business leaders would try assassinate as many of these leftist politicians as they could.

As for the how, Diaper Donald is showing you and us now. Norms, rules, laws, none of it matters, and frankly, none of it should as the country has so many hardships facing it. It’s shameful that Democrats have allowed the Manchins and parliamentarians and all these goddamn excuses serve as a means to allow the poor and middle class’s wealth to be pilfered by criminal capitalists who don’t even need the money.

Leftists fight back by making it personal. When a Manchin says no, you threaten to have the Justice Department investigate his daughter for running a company that price gouges for insulin. When a Sinema says she won’t vote your way, you pull all of her committee assignments so her value to lobbyists goes to zero and the extra checks stop coming. Every politician has a weakness. You find it and pour salt on it, just like Donald is doing to every person that stands in his way.

In short. You stop saying you fight, get dirty, and do it. After this presidency, no one should ever humor the Democratic excuse that they lack power to create change.
