Venezuela went through land reform and farm collectivization. There are widespread and large scale participatory structures throughout Venezuelan society from communes to citizen militias and many things in between.
Venezuela is considered undemocratic by the usual suspects, for all the usual cynical reasons. Nationalizing oil fields has always attracted claims of dictatorship. The US and UK overthrew Iran’s elected leader for nationalizing their oil fields.
