Aaaaaaand I just got banned from NOT one, NOT two, NOT three, but four Lemmy.ml communities. Is this a sign I have to start studying and reading up on theory?

Also, I know some Lemmy.ml mods is gonna say that “you wouldn’t get banned from these communities had you read your theory!” like they’re teachers demanding students to eat their meat before they can have their pudding (because how can you have your pudding when you don’t eat your meat?)

Now I support the idea of socialism (I’m more of a market socialist), and I’m NOT against the idea of actually existing socialist countries (ie: China, Cuba, Vietnam, Laos and the DPRK). That said, I think Lemmy.ml should be more open to different forms of socialism, as well as the Marxist Leninists who DOESN’T have to support Stalin (and his bureaucratic and polarizing practices while General Secretary of the CPSU) to support ML.

I am very bummed that I CAN’T respond in these communities - that said, I can subscribe to different versions of these communities that happened to be in different Lemmy instances (other than Lemmy.ml):

Someone should make another Lemmy support community here in this instance

    1. That doesn’t change the cruelty of the meat industry
    2. You’re still doing it though, see #3
    3. Based in historical revisionism. As in, you’re more interested in “what if everything were like my favorite alt-history story?” instead of grounding things in reality. Asked and answered at least 20 times by me alone.
                • They’ve said they’re autistic - I probably wouldn’t still be engaging with them otherwise, and at this point I think I’m 95% on the “it’s a shitty bit” side, but that’s definitely managed to string me along across 3 accounts so far. I wonder what take will get this one banned.

I know, there is no point engaging with someone assuming they are a troll. What speaks against them being a troll is that they put in about as much effort in engagement as everyone around them, so they are at least not very effective.

Didn’t know about the previous accounts.

I do think that it can be difficult to learn to be part of online spaces where people are trying to genuine with how caustic the rest of the internet is. Becoming part of Marxist spaces is even more difficult when they might be some sort of liberal leftist or something. Read theory is true but I wonder whether it’s actually helpful advice to someone wanting to join an online space. Maybe something like “listen to people and don’t get overly argumentative” would make more sense. People should still read theory but people won’t study for months to join an online forum.

I already have, and I don’t see any need to explicitly state that over and over given that you can clearly infer it just fine.

I’ve even suggested some alternatives to reading previously in the hope they’d be an easier entry point.

I don’t particularly expect anything different at this point.

you post the same things over and over again and don’t seem to actually incorporate any of the feedback you get in response.
