- Turkish
- French
- Italian. Or Spanish?
- Ok definitely it’s top 4
Pasta and pizza are two of my favorite foods
Surely you misspoke, the no. 1 European cuisine (as well as no. 1 European anything) is Albanian.
And who did you learn how to cook from Arben?
French food is actually wildly overrated. Way more than Italian. French food is merely the only Northern European cuisine worth mentioning.
Have you ever had black coffee and cigarettes for breakfast? Don’t trash talk French cuisine until you’ve tried it. It feels amazing.
French cuisine is opening a bottle of wine with a shoe.
best 'fast
They “invented” modern (European) restaurants. That’s basically 90% of the reason why. The French Revolution created a huge unemployment problem for a bunch of highly skilled private chefs for nobles/royalty who suddenly became too headless to be able to eat food, so they had to degrade themselves to serving “common folk” (read: well off proles and petit bourgeoisie, the average worker could not afford these establishments). Before that you’d have establishments that served one or two things, a tavern that had a stew going for the past several decades, or an open air food court (also with stalls that only sold one or two types of food). The Greeks had thermopolia (where you could grab ready to eat hot food and the Romans had something similar but with grapes, cheese and bread, but none of those are really modern restaurants.
The concept of having a menu and being able to select an item, modify it to your tastes if you want, having that item made for you and delivered to your table was apparently revolutionary, and France became a culinary capital. Nevermind that this concept has existed in China since the Song dynasty and elsewhere in east Asia for a few centuries.
They got foie gras. That abomination alone should disqualify them
Yeah I fucking hate seafood, barley, dairy and root vegetables
I know we’re in badposting but I fucking love food too much to be badposting rn. If we’re only considering Europe then, as an avid mushroom hunter, and thus, mushroom cook, I have to agree. My cooking tends to skew Italian and French, though, many species are often better served with a more Central European flair.
Species such as cantharellus, craterellus, Morchella, and pleurotus typically get a French or Italian treatment in my kitchen, while agaricus, cerioporus, and hydnum often find themselves in more Polish, Czech, or Hungarian dishes. The more versatile (imo) boletus, grifola, and Laetiporus species find themselves all over the continent. Hericium and hypomyces lactiflorum especially, though, get a decidedly New England treatment in my house… mmmm… lobster mushroom roll…
As you can tell, I’m both hungry and love talkin food n fungi.
If your pronouns were he/him I was going to say you sound like a fun guy, but somehow saying you sound like a fun gnomegodsgnomemasters doesn’t hit in the same way.
You could say I’m a G-Gnome, though

Fwiw, my pronouns are he/him, but I prefer people — especially on the internet — know me before I allow them to acquaint themselves with the more gendered aspects of my person.
Whatever it takes to get to the mushrooms
It’s good, but people sleep on balkan cuisine
We are ruling over the Balkans on that, just like how we did in Ottoman days!
/s
Italian food is good, but I probably wouldnt put it in my top three maybe not even my top five cuisines. Without even thinking about it, Id put Chinese and Indian cuisine at number one and two, since theyre both fucking huge cuisines with tons of options and variety.
If were talking European cuisine only, theres definitely an argument to be made that Italian cuisine deserves a top five spot, together with French cuisine. Also you might be joking with Turkish cuisine but it legit slaps.
Is 'chinese’cuisine a unified concept? Like, isn’t it a giant country with a bunch of regional cuisines? My impression is that what the west gets as chinese cuisine is an marketing thing, a simplification. Like, what chinese cuisine?
You are absolutely right that there are big differences between regions within China in terms of cuisine, but if you look at what you can eat in Western Chinese restaurants, you still get a more specific cuisine even if it is undoubtedly adjusted to Western palates.
Have you ever tried anything Turkish in Türkiye? Because you’ll eat your words as an appetizer once you taste one of our superior foods.
Of all the countries which make food in Europe, Italy is one of them.
eh, italian soup game is weak. you have to go further east to get good soup in europe.
The balkans are the reason austrians have better food , and especially soup, than the rest of the germanophones, they are the most slavic/hungarian germans.
onion slop eating germans civilized by the slavs… :D
Also, austrians actually like food and living well. The germans truly have no culinary culture. They eat food cause everyone needs to, but they have no real love for it.
Truly the wurst cuisine
Absolutely insane opinion.
Minestrone is just pasta sauce someone accidentally added too much water to.
Soup is soup, not food.

Tea isn’t food. Water isn’t food. Soup isn’t food.
This is one of my most reactionary opinions but it’s a hill I’m willing to die on. Sometimes it’s better to be correct than to be liked.
you’re just telling me you’ve never had good soup
I’ve had great tea before. Still not food.
I am making myself some chicken tea right now
a lot of the really great soups have about as much solid stuff in them as liquid, and that liquid is also kinda thick, it cools down to jelly.
potatoes, mushrooms, pasta, carrots, celery, what have you. and you eat bread with it. it’s basically a full meal including the fluid you lost.
Soup isn’t broth. Broth I can see your argument, but soup is a broth specifically with food in it
Precisely. This is why ramen is incredible, it’s mostly food.
dreadful take, silly hill
is stew food? is gravy food? what about a milkshake? a flurry?
is the distinction chunks or viscosity?
Stew has food in it. No. A milkshake is its own thing. Weather phenomenon.
It’s like pornography, I’ll know it when I see it.
ANTI-SOUP ACTION
I made a minestrone for my Chinese aunt once. Her reaction was basically “this is ok”. Flavour was decent but there was not enough liquid and too many solids for a soup.
Italian food is really good
Vietnamese food is also really goodClearly the secret is pasta
I ate so many goddamn noodles while I was in VietnamNo 1. British
bread soup yim yom
Dipping my toast sandwich in my bread soup like a boss
That jellied eel hits pretty hard m8
Italian is the best European cuisine, easily.
What even is the competition? Greek?
France and Spain are bland and over reliant on animal products to taste of anything, and forget about northern Europe.
Oh I forgot about Greek.
Ok Italian is top 5
Superior Turkish food shall conquer every inch of the Earth!! Billions must taste!!
Türkiye #1 again 💪🏿🐺🇹🇳!!
(Don’t ask the other lists though.)
Italian cuisine goes crazy. Cheese and tomato on flatbread? Like who else would even think of that? And unleavened wheat dough formed into various shapes? Like damn I don’t even know how they came up with that. And then on top of that they ferment grape juice and curdle fermented milk? Wow so innovative, we should all kneel before their culinary and cultural superiority.
the competition is beans on toast and whatever the nords make
The nords made salmon sashimi a widespread thing, which sounds wrong but is something that happened.
Before northern Europeans tried to expand their salmon market to the Japanese, sashimi was largely tuna.
Beans on toast is a fucking insane thing to consume, real proof that the English people are sociopaths.
However beans on rice is a sign of true human superiority
Mostly cakes and herring
Italian food is American-European fusion, and all the best parts are American.
