I’m shocked kidnapping a world leader wasn’t a war crime.

EDIT: Is it not? I genuinely don’t know.

It is illegal, but their angle is that he wasn’t internationally or nationally recognized as a legitimate leader.

I’m gonna be honest, snatching a regular citizen (or hell, even a violent criminal) from a sovereign nation while you bomb the shit out of their capital doesn’t sound much less illegal.

Despite hating maduro, the problem with allowing random countries to allow these kind of initiatives is that it justifies others doing the same. For example, China could now kidnap the Japanese prime minister due to their oppression of the workers and unpaid debts for wrecking the country in WWW2. Or Russia could try and kidnap the Ukrainian president to “fight the Nazis”, oh wait, that’s what they tried to do. Get reckt Russia

100% agree. It’s just that Maduro is a cunt and I’m not gonna cry for him. His removal should have been done by his people, though.

In actual war, I don’t think it is. But there’s no actual war here, this is an invasion and a kidnapping for ransom.

Like in WWII, if the Allies fought their way to Berlin and took Hitler prisoner, I don’t think anyone would have a reasonable objection. But this isn’t war, he’s not Hitler, and they didn’t take a prisoner of war.

Furthermore, wars of aggression are prohibited, so even if you say it was a war, it’s still an illegal war.

And nor is using military for murdering random people on boats without any evidence or due process whatsoever.
