Yesterday, Congress passed a bill that is so immoral, so corrupt, so plainly colonial, that it should end political careers. And it only passed because Democrats made it pass.
Let me say that again: Republicans did not have the votes to do this by themselves. It took Democratic votes — 153 Democrats — to drag this across the finish line.
And one of those “yes” votes belongs to a woman who has become a national darling, a rising star, a Democratic celebrity: Rep. Jasmine Crockett.
The House passed H.R. 7006 — a bill that, in plain English, does two things at once:
It rushes billions of dollars in weapons money to Israel (in addition to the hundreds of billions of OUR MONEY already sent there) and then it punishes Palestinians and blocks accountability for Israel’s crimes.
That’s not “balance.” That’s not “security.” That’s not “peace.” That’s complicity.
The roll call is public. The vote was 341–79.
Republicans voted 188 yes and 22 no.
Democrats voted 153 yes and 57 no.
That means Democrats didn’t just “help.” They supplied the margin. They made it pass. They made it law.
It’s an appropriations bill to fund things. Including the IRS, the ATF, the Office of Technology, the White House, oh and the Supreme Court, amongst 100 other things.
Boiling this down to “fuck Gaza” is some elite cherry-picking to the point that it’s just blatantly dishonest.
The republicans own all three branches of government, thanks to over 1/3 of all voters choosing stick their thumb up their ass rather than vote in 2024. That leads to fucked up bills like this getting through. You want to shut down the IRS prior to tax season? Okay. Maybe turn off all the cybersecurity as well, such as it is? Great. In the coloring-book version of governance those are easy choices.
But sure, all Democrats bad. Everything is super simple.
As if it was not already blindingly obvious the docrats are not really any better than the republicans.
