Sure, sure - so who are the Lemmyleft promoting instead?

    . . .

It . . . you have to have someone. To, y’know, recieve the votes.

. . . Anyone? There’s a big thing happening in a couple of years. I’m told these things need to be planned out or something.

I’ll assume you’re asking in good faith despite coming across as an obtuse chunk of drywall.

Most of the big bets are waiting for midterms before making a move. It will be a handful of names like Mark Kelly, AOC, I wouldn’t be surprised if Ro Khanna jumps into the ring. It may be more too, but again, midterms are going to basically dictate who gets the power and support.

My bets are on Mark Kelly currently, and leads my personal list alongside AOC. Not perfect candidates, but would be amazing leaders of US policy and tone for the repair-work we need to do.

On the other side, we’re going to get an absolute circus of freakish, stupid right-wing nutjobs and youtube influencers and CEO’s. They’re also waiting for the midterms to get a gauge of how good their chances are.

(I’ve been around a few decades, this is not new, we are going to get a democrat president, who will spend 8 years fixing the economy, then dumbass fucking chud population will finally rage at the woke and liberalism and elect some kind of mecha-Mussolini to start a bunch of wars and start the cycle over again.)

I encourage you to actually get politically informed so you can you know, vote intelligently. Assuming you’re in the US.

If you read any of their comments you’ll sadly see they are not doing anything in good faith.

Best one from them is that they apparently know absolutely nothing about newsom

We don’t even know who’s running yet. Implying people aren’t allowed to criticize shitty hypocritical politicians because they might, at some future date, announce they’re running for president is completely ridiculous.

Since that’s all it has ever been. Biden’s terrible, Harris is terrible, Schumer and Jeffries are beyond terrible - yeah, great, got it. What’s the plan then?

All I ever get are non-sequitur rants about seizing the means of production and incorrect assertions about the elections process from people who have never lived in the US. That is - by itself, with nothing ever else appearing - less than worthless.

Also so does that mean we can’t say trump/putin/bibi is terrible without specifying an alternative?

I see some love for AOC (but also insta-damnation if dog forbid she hews incorrectly), Mamdani got a lot of love (for a city mayor) at least until he made the fatal error of crossing a SocDem, and Bernie gets love. But that’s it. 99.8% of Democrats are the worst, most evil fascists under the sun according to their support base. If you believe that.

Is it any wonder they look to the center for support when it gets close to election time?

Also so does that mean we can’t say trump/putin/bibi is terrible without specifying an alternative?

For the first 100 slams, no those are free. After that you have to have something else besides a big bag of bitching. But only for trump, unless you’re voting in the israeli or russian election.

Which, sometimes I wonder if some of the commenters are.

Because the primaries haven’t started is why people usually say this is an acceptable time to criticize newsom.

He is spending all his time trying to meet people who think he’s the devil halfway. He’s so delusional, idk if we’d get anything from Newsom but MAGA-light anti trans bullshit, anti homeless bullshit. He doesn’t know or care about the democrat voters or their needs at all.

Other governers have been floated. Idk if we need Newsom at all in any future presidential election.

And fair enough, but what - besides shitting on existing candidates - is there? Now that we’re nearly midway to the next presidential election?

So far in the, now years, that I’ve been asking, there’s nothing. Nothing but more shitting on existing candidates and outrage that I should ask who should get support.

That seems . . . not viable as a strategy to gain access to offices.

Agitating for better policies is not “nothing” no matter how much you’re bothered by it.

edit: I’m also fascinated by this commentary because for a year+ leftists and progressives were told not to criticize Biden because it was “too close to an election”, and now we’re being told by the same people that not to criticize any potential candidate at any time, or else we’re hurting the democrats’ chances in 2 and a half years.

It’s like libs have learned absolutely nothing from blithely accepting a milquetoast, unpopular moderate shitbag as their candidate and getting their asses handed to them for it.

What part of “Newsom is worse than Hitler” is “agitating for better policies”?

I’m specifically saying you should advocate for the candidate you want NOW instead of only and forever shitting on candidates other people pick. But you can’t even do that.

Because you’re using “libs” I’m assuming you’re not American? Or just have a real affinity for the republican nazi party?

Or are you actually an anarchist and therefore opposed to elections?

              “Newsom is worse than Hitler”

Lmao, yea I’m not touching that one

              candidates other people pick

Should I take this to mean that you’ve selected Newsom before he or anybody else has actually announced? Who has ‘picked’ a candidate at this point?

What I don’t see in this comment is an actual defense of Newsom by any sort of merit, which is about as expected. People criticizing Newsom (or any other presumptive candidate at this point) for his policy positions are sending signals that there’s a hole in the presumptive candidate pool that someone can fill. If someone were to actually announce their candidacy, they’d have a pretty clear lane to pick that Newsom has left open (but actually maybe not, since he himself can’t seem to pick a lane on just about any issue, and is instead just swerving back and forth across the entire field). I think AOC would be a decent pick to fill that lane, even if I have my apprehensions, but she hasn’t announced yet either.

Because you’re using “libs” I’m assuming you’re not American?

Oh no, I don’t know anything about him other than his trump trolling. I just see people already losing their minds at the thought that he could be the nominee.

I think AOC would be a decent pick to fill that lane, even if I have my apprehensions, but she hasn’t announced yet either.

I’d love to see an AOC candidacy. But given America’s obvious problem with voting for women I dunno how it would play out. I guess it depends if we all survive that far.

He’s bad on affordability. He’s bad on social issues. He’s bad on economic issues. The only thing going on is he seems to understand twitter and gerrymandering.
