Not looking good for the greens at all, I’m really surprised Melbourne has turned on them by the looks of it ?
In the lower house. Senate currently looks likely to have a Greens balance of power. https://www.abc.net.au/news/elections/federal/2025/results/senate
Beware the propaganda.
Well to be fair I have felt for a while the greens are a bit lost. It’s a very interesting result - some naval gazing needed I think

Removed because i dont wote for religious people, is that allowed? Is atheism allowed?
That is not why your post was deleted.
Do you think it was the Israel/Palestine stance?
I saved this from 5 months ago: https://aussie.zone/post/15598435/13409792
It’s not just the Israel/Palestine stance (which I don’t want to get into because I’ll get downvoted to heck) but a big part is housing, they were seen (rightly or wrongly) as delaying housing, as someone who voted for MMC to see him doing this killed me
There was other things but a big one that stands out to me was this:
https://greens.org.au/news/media-release/greens-wont-support-rba-reforms-until-labor-tells-bank-cut-rates
That is absolutely fucking insane, it might just be the most insane economics policy I’d ever seen, this is Donald Trump tier idiocy, it’s a similar line to wanting to get rid of the Fed Chair in America but even he backed off after realising how badly it would mess things up
The central bank is independent, if the government starts setting the rates then what is the point of the central bank?
There was loads of other things they did

I just hope that the greens take some lessons from this election
I think it would have been the blocking of legislation last year, if anything.
But i have heard the seats they won last time were a bit of fluke narrow path to victory that would be hard to hold, but the ABC are saying they’re marginally increasing overall vote share 12.5% to 12.7%.
So maybe this will be a story about an aberration election, followed by a correction to their tradition of rising broad support across Australia.
If thats the case then they shouldn’t look at tonight’s outcome as a bad result, they gave the Majors their first genuine scare last election, with their vote share rising, this will make it more likely to happen in more diversified seats across the country. Thats a great future for the Greens, what they don’t want is to have a fate like the Nationals where they’re geographically cornered with no real avenue for growth as a Party.
