Yeah it does. We can’t just sweep this Nazi shit under the rug. Every time we see it we need to point it out and say it’s unacceptable. These kind of assholes believe that if you’re not speaking out against them it’s because you agree with them and are just afraid to be a Nazi out loud.

100%. Booing on Anzac Day sets the media on a stance where the reporting usually frames it as a protest against the acknowledgment of country and therefore frames the story so that the viewer/reader/listener questions the legitimacy of the acknowledgment of country before questioning the legitimacy of the protest. Because no-one would dare to boo on Anzac Day unless there was really something to boo about.

The ABC at least have called it out this year. Maybe the tide will turn.

It’s not sweeping it under the rug. It is always called out by the people who are actually there on the day. It is absolutely necessary to do that and to support the victims of abuse, but reporting on it and broadcasting it all over the internet in an attempt to shame them into silence is not and doesn’t work. One person booed at an event and was instantly shut down, who the fuck cares? This person is not important or influential unless you platform them and turn them into the big scary Nazi caricature. Now they have a public image, now they have a story they can work with. You won’t see it because your social media feed is not the same as the one being broadcast to the people they are influencing online (often young men and boys). Don’t mistake that for thinking you somehow won the engagement. They got exactly what they wanted here and they will continue to turn up every year and do it again because it works.
