    I wouldn’t buy a controller that is supported only on one platform (and by platform I mean Steam, not PC).

    I don’t like to lock myself into things.

      I’m confused by this statement…

      Your xbox controller is locked into windows, that would be one platform…

        I would bet you will be able to use both on Linux without Steam. The Steam controller will very likely have a much more active community to provide custom drivers and enhancements though.

        The xbox controller works in an xbox and a a PC. You dont need to run games through microsoft store to work.

        Steam controller needs all games to run through Steam. Standalone games don’t work or games in epic or GOG (you must add them as non-Steam games).

        It doesn’t have a Windows driver and linux driver is hypothesised because of their 2015 controller had one.
