According to a briefing document that Build American AI provided to influencers, the organization is now seeking to “extend beyond left-leaning female lifestyle and family [content creators] to focus on left-leaning influencers who are political commentators, business/tech leaders, and male lifestyle influencers.”
Example of messaging directed at this “left-leaning” target demographic:
Sample messaging provided by Build American AI to content creators includes lines like “I just learned that China is trying really hard to beat the US in AI. If they do, it could mean that China gets personal data from me and my kids, and take jobs that should be here in the US In the AI innovation race, I’m Team USA!!!”
“left-leaning” = “Abundance” liberals

I don’t think this campaign will work on anyone except the petty bourgeoisie. What could China possibly do with the data of American citizens that’s so much scarier than what America could do with that same data? Kill them, imprison them?
The simple fact that Americans live under an American government means they have much more to fear from America.
I just learned that China is trying really hard to beat the US in AI. If they do, it could mean that China gets personal data from me and my kids
I only want AMERICAN companies harvesting my personal data

WHAAAT!1!1! You mean YouTubers are NOT in fact fully organic voices of the people?!? And all those based conservatives are just mindless mainstream media believing lapdogs?!? Impossible! That goes against the narrative!
People in the US are already mad at US AI companies, from job losses to supercharged surveillance to automated warfare. You have to be pretty disconnected to think a little China scaremongering is the answer to such reactions.
I’m pretty sure people in SV are living in a their own world that has little to do with the broad economic reality in the US. I mean just look at exhibit A here https://xcancel.com/WallStreetApes/status/2050069324178788629
Each region would die on a hill denying this, but both Hollywood and SV are very similar. Both require a bit of delusion to sell a product (movie, SaaS, etc) to a small group of investors before anything can exist, investors who try to numerically diversify their portfolios, a stream of bright-eyed fresh-faced
fodderpeople coming to town with hopes and dreams of making it big[1], and finally all of it is run by an army of burnt-out underpaid workers both in and out of The Industry.
Some actually do make it while most don’t. Those that do LinkedIn-spire more fresh-faced talent into the meat grinder ↩︎
oh yeah, the whole US economy is smoke and mirrors at the end of the day
This is MUCH better than that tweet post earlier
