Ridiculous. China is pumping out coal mines by the hundreds and nuclear plants by the dozen per year. Their emissions are increasing at an alarming rate.

You have no idea what you’re talking about. Emissions in China have literally flatlined and in some cases even fallen for many months now, despite an increase in power consumption thanks to renewable energy. This has been globally confirmed by many analysts, and even the UN climate summit.

This has been constantly covered in the media as well, but apparently you chose to ignore it.

        for many months now

        🤣

Not to mention all we’re doing is shifting our emissions to China, not eliminating them.

Chinese coal power generation plateaued about 3 years ago. Existing plants were also heavily refitted to reduce particulate pollution.

Sometimes it almost seems like western liberals are so acclimatised to stagnation that they can’t grasp the concept of change.

Coal-fired power generation in China fell by 1.6% in 2025 as non-fossil energy sources (wind, solar) grew rapidly.

thankfully China has the GOD-GIVEN FREEDOM to replace older plants with newer, more efficient plants. FREEEEEEEDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM

            https://www.statista.com/chart/36007/power-capacity-of-new-decommissioned-coal-power-plants-china/

Last year, China installed almost 70 gigawatts of new coal power capacity more than it took off the grid. The last time this number has been this high was in 2007. In 2018, between 2020 and 2022 as well as in 2024, net coal additions had stayed below 30 gigawatts.

          https://www.carbonbrief.org/analysis-clean-energy-just-put-chinas-co2-emissions-into-reverse-for-first-time/

Coal emissions, and coal as a proportion of total power generation is going down, not up, because these newly commissioned coal plants are replacements for older, dirtier plants that no longer meet China’s pollution regulations.

China is adding an absolutely ludicrous amount of green energy to their grid per year.

It went down before too…… and then it shot back up to all time high levels.

The proportion of power that coal makes is irrelevant when they’re still increasing coal use. Just because solar if increasing faster doesn’t mean coal is dropping. You don’t open a hundred new coal mines a year to use less coal o.

I know Lemmy loves communism, but even you guys can’t try and defend Chinas emissions as anything other than disastrously high if you think the climate is changing. They’re literally the main cause of it if it is carbon emissions caused.

It’s genuinely hilarious how you project your irrational propaganda-brained hatred of China by accusing leftists of defending your imaginary coal increase.

You genuinely think people don’t notice what you’re doing, don’t you?

The further and further you move the goalposts, the more you reveal your feebleness.

Curious how you only firehose hearsay and have not a single time addressed the actual points and refutations that have been given in response.

Now you’re reached the point where you’re literally just saying “yeah it’s decreasing now but it will totally increase in the future!” Lmfao

That’s the thing about reality. Facts don’t give a fuck about your feelings.

I have zero hatred for China, what are you talking about?

Chinas emissions decreased 1% a year once and you’re proclaiming they’re an electric state 🤣

They are building a hundred coal mines a year. Fact. Facts don’t give a fuck about your feelings 😘
