    Well, my 2002 Golf mk4 1.9 TDI only needed a rear axle replacement, some not really necessary stuff (rust) and oil changes.

    What are people doing with their cars?

      I think its more what are they not doing. I bought this car in a meh condition and have only done the bare minimum to keep it alive and passning inspection.

        Fair point. The car has actually been in my family it’s whole lifetime. It was taken care of and regularly maintained, like all cars should be.

        But if you bought your car in a shitty condition and/or can’t afford to repair it, it’s fine.

        A lot of US states don’t even require inspections. Also, I travel to Michigan a fair bit. The previous post asked what people were doing with their cars. Among others things, they’re driving in Michigan. My last trip cost me an axle, but to be fair, foolishness might have been a contributing factor.
