minus-squareGeodad@lemm.eelinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up9arrow-down21·edit-22 days agoSome Inheritance would be nice, but my boomer dad insists on spending it himself. Neither of us get what we want.
minus-squarethe_tab_key@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkarrow-up23arrow-down4·edit-22 days agoThat selfish bastard! Using the money he earned himself on him! Fucking boomer …I get your point though (I think?), just not very obvious.
minus-squareGeodad@lemm.eelinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up8arrow-down1·2 days agoAnd I want to save money by not having kids. 🤨
minus-squareBossDj@lemm.eelinkfedilinkarrow-up3·2 days agoIt’s fair in a sense that his father may have left him inheritance
minus-squaremriormro@lemm.eelinkfedilinkarrow-up7arrow-down4·2 days agoThis reeks of privilege, dawg. Check yourself.
minus-squareGeodad@lemm.eelinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up7arrow-down3·2 days agoThe boomers made their way, then pulled the ladder up behind them. That’s privilege.
minus-squaremriormro@lemm.eelinkfedilinkarrow-up5·2 days agoFor the overwhelming majority of the US population the notion of an ‘inheritance’ has not nor will it ever cross their mind. Be bitter about the lack of social safety nets or any investments by those in power into the poor and middle class. Not because you aren’t getting something from a loved one you somehow believe you were owed.
minus-squareGeodad@lemm.eelinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1arrow-down3·2 days agoOh, I hate this country with a passion. Dad just wastes his money on dumb shit. He’s like a teenager in a 65 year old body. He never spent as much on us growing up as he does and always has on himself. I’ll be sure to find the seediest nursing home I can when he can’t afford to live on his own anymore.

minus-squareGeodad@lemm.eelinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up5arrow-down1·2 days agoYeah, and what if I choose not to have kids to save my money? It’s my money, not his.
minus-squareOpinionhaver@feddit.uklinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up4arrow-down2·2 days agoYou’re not obligated to have children - just like your dad isn’t obligated to leave you an inheritance.
minus-squareGeodad@lemm.eelinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up3·2 days agoExactly. So why are my boomer parents so insistent about grandkids? It’s expensive enough for just 2 of us to live. Why bring a 3rd into the situation?
minus-squareOpinionhaver@feddit.uklinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up3arrow-down1·2 days agoThe discussion wasn’t about them being insistent on grandkids - it was about you being insistent on inheritance. If you think they’re being unreasonable, then it’s worth recognizing that your own insistence might be just as unreasonable.
minus-squareGeodad@lemm.eelinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1arrow-down1·2 days agoI don’t expect inheritance from him. Honestly, I don’t know why I haven’t gone no contact with him yet.
minus-squareleadore@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkarrow-up1arrow-down2·1 day agoAfter reading your whiny entitled posts, sounds to me like you’d be doing him a favor if you did.
