To put it into perspective: the concept of a smartphone isn’t even a thing yet plus Steve Jobs wasn’t even born yet (via time travel, you have an iPhone 12 decades before it was released and about 102 years before the first iPhone came out), will they consider you a warlock? The phone itself won’t work as celluar towers didn’t exist yet (you can’t call anybody).
You are in an era where silent films were popular, people wore formal clothing, black & white photography is already mainstream. Your great grandparents are alive at this time, even if you have what they consider alien technology: will you be burned at the stake for just having the device? Having a 4K camera makes B/W photography look like a joke.
The issue will be on recharging the device, since their power outlets aren’t the same as today due to them being intended for the electronics available at the time. You can have a battery pack or wireless charging but run into the same problems (What happens if they break?) Also, what happens if the device is damaged? Where are you going to get spare parts?
Even if you flexed such technology towards scientists, inventors or scholars from that era: will they consider you crazy? Is the government going to coerce you to manufacture such tech as they see it as a potential? That leads into another problem, the components you need aren’t available yet in order to begin manufacturing neither is the knowledge.
You would have a useless object that within a day is permanently discharged and turned off. Maybe you bring also a charger and luckily find a stable enough power source that it doesn’t burn in a few days.
Still, an iphone is a useless device without network of any kind.
Maybe you could impress somebody with the calculator (those existed already but where massive mechanical devices unable to do divisions without a math degree kind of).
My guess nobody would be quite interested. Probably the plastic and aluminum would be the most interesting technology for the time.
What if you were smart enough to download all of Wikipedia via Kiwix?
You own an iphone… So I guess that would not have been thought before time travel…
You would be bullied
The late 1800s/early 1900s was an era of technological progress. The camera, the airplane, the radio, new manufacturing enabled high rise designs like we’d never had before, high speed rail was redefining cities and towns. They were beginnings of the progress that we have today. I think they would be proud, not surprised.
