Turkish-American political commentator Cenk Uygur said he has been barred from entering the United Kingdom after authorities revoked his travel authorisation ahead of planned events in London and Oxford this week.

Uygur has repeatedly criticised Israel’s military campaign in Gaza and described its actions as genocide.

Political commentator and Twitch streamer Hasan Piker, Uygur’s nephew, said on social media that British authorities had also revoked his visa.

“The UK has revoked my visa as well,” Piker wrote, alleging the decision was made “at the behest of Israel”. Piker is also scheduled to appear at SXSW London this week. South by Southwest (SXSW) is an annual film and music event.

Yeah I’d ban Cenk for being a known genocide denier and possible genocide supporter. (*‘The Young Turks’ were ethno-nationalists into racial purity…) rather than his takes on Israel.

What did they say? I hate news that describes that somebody did such and such bad and therefore consequence, but they don’t actually say what they said so you can’t judge for yourself whether it was legitimate or bullshit.

These tweets are just saying they got banned. I was referring to the actual tweet that got them banned. What did they say, and was it actually offensive, or was it just anti-israel and anti-IDF?

I’ve listened to Cenk many times and he has never been anti-jewish, only anti-israel and anti-idf. Both of those takes I think are totally justified, but I’m still curious what someone else judged to be so bad that their Visa was revoked.

Words haven’t meant anything in earnest in the West since at least the days of Orwell but this is just ridiculous. The fuck.
