Congratulations Aussies, we have a Trumpette!

Australia was never monocultural and can never be monocultural. Before and during English colonisation there was a pre-existing culture on this continent which will continue into the future and will not be erased. As for European-descended colonisers, from the beginning the colony was split between Protestants and Catholics, English and Irish, ruling class and their enforcers and convicts and so on. And that’s just for starters. There has never been a monoculture. There is a monocle view which makes it simple not to think.

What are your favourite (or reviled) Pauline truisms (or falsisms)?

What do you mean? All Aboriginals practiced welcome to country ceremonies like some sort of monoculture

I think you may be ribbing but if you’re not, do a bit of reading and you will find that clan or tribal groups had different protocols for acknowledging visitors to the country over which they were custodians depending on their local traditions. It was a way for both visitors to identify themselves and for the custodians of that part of the country to welcome them and express their culture. At the time of European settlement there were about 250 indigenous languages with about 500 dialects, so, language being part of culture already tells you that there was a lot of diversity and not a sort of monoculture.
