      I think it’s more a demonstration of his capacity to understand the essence of a source material. If he can adapt and tune into what made Star Trek so appealing to its audience when developing Orville, I don’t see why the same treatment wouldn’t work for DCC. I really think he gets it.

      Which Star Trek though? The Orville continues the best traditions of The Next Generation and Deep Space 9 - challenging viewers with ethical dilemmas that are tackled without being preachy or just childish like new Star Trek shows. It does that under the guise of toilet humour at first, only to flourish into full blown classic Trek later. The only part I dislike is Seth MacFarlane inserting his current girlfriends everywhere.
