Perhaps, insofar that France and UK has a smaller nuclear arsenal than either US or Russia; though 3¼ years into the invasion of Ukraine (not counting 2014 to 2022), I doubt Russia has 25% of the country.
Refusing to play your hand doesn’t make it a weak hand, and conservative rags like the FT are a large reason behind the refusal.
Is it me or is FT sliding further into Fox News territory? There was a time I considered them a good source of information but lately I’m questioning a lot of their journalism. Might be because I don’t visit their website and communities like this skew my view but damn they look more and more maga crazy from my pov.
Pretty silly to say “europe” here when the aggressor, Russia, is also a european country. Russia is european the same way that the UK is still european despite Brexit.
There’s a fundamental difference in the way the UK and Russia deal with European values such as democracy, freedom of expression, press freedom, etc.
Yes obviously, but whether a country is European is decided by geography not values.
Russia usually gets excluded when referring to Europe, that’s just how it works.
Russia has chosen to be an economic and political ‘outsider’ and so gets excluded.
When referring to Europe by US media, I totally understand what kind of Europe this article refers to but my point is that geography means something different when talking about Europe and I think that is relevant since for example Hungary or Serbia are in the context of the title part of Europe but are also more and more political ‘outsiders’. I think this point similar to someone from Canada that America is not only the US.
