What a pleasant surprise of a movie. Obviously not as good as Police Squad but still, I expected way worse.
Also, everybody go watch Police Squad.
Yeah, Liam Neeson nailed the dead pan delivery of the original, it was probably a good idea to not cast a comedian.
The genius of Naked Gun (and Leslie Nielsen in general) is that he’s got the classic double act energy, but he acts as the straight man to himself. Neeson (and the director) understood the assignment.
He is a truly gifted actor
His comic role in `1000 Ways To Die in the Old West" was a superb nod to the characters he’d been playing regularly
He was truly amazing in “Kinsey”
Pam Anderson was also unexpectedly good
Well, it wasn’t bad but for one the violence for me was far off from how the original series and movies handled it.
The humor and delivery was great but that snowman scene ruined it for me with supernatural elements which were never part (tell me if I’m wrong).
So for me it was so/so in total.
Really? I really disliked the dumb slapstick of the originals and was very surprised they decided to remake it.
Ah, I know exactly what you mean, but that’s the thing: there was a TV show called Police Squad before the Nielsen movies and it is fucking glorious (and too short). The Neeson movie is tonally a lot closer to the show.
I like most of the ZAZ movies and their humor. It’s mostly working with the surprise aspect of humor. Things happen and are said that people don’t expect. Maybe you don’t like surprises or you can predict them really well?
For the sake of my ego, I’m gonna go with the latter.
Are you on the younger side and saw media, especially cartoons, that were influenced by Airplane and Naked Gun movies first?
If 34 counts as younger then yes.
Yes, yes it does.
