    I think the word is a native/indigenous/“Amerindian” word for village or similar. It’s where the origin or the word “Canada” comes from.

    By the way, happy Canada day to all Canadians and friends of Canada. I would like to count myself as the latter, as I enjoy much of their musicians’ works.

    The name Canada is now generally accepted as originating from the St. Lawrence Iroquoian word kanata ([kana:taʔ]), meaning ‘village’ or ‘settlement’.
