I honestly don’t blame Ukraine if their government was behind this. And if they were, they would of course do everything they could to have deniability of any participation. As this was a major blow to Europe too.
But all that was a result of USA not living up to their promise of protecting Ukraine, which they gave as a condition for Ukraine to turn over their nuclear weapons. Ukraine was pretty desperate at the time, being attacked by Russia, a country with 10 times as much military power as Ukraine had.
It’s insane that Ukraine was able to hold as well as they did, and finally with help from allies to even get the upper hand now.
This is worth way way more for Europe than a stupid pipeline from Russia to Europe.
And, as I’ve said elsewhere, Nordstream had become politically untenable for Germany. Blowing it up saved the Scholz government a lot of headache.
That might be why Joe Biden said at a press conference that Nordstream 2 was never going to happen while Chancellor Scholz was standing right next to him and didn’t say a peep. A few days later, it was gone.
So at the end of the day, who cares about who blew up the pipeline? It needed to go, and go it did.
