So if an indie game blows up because it’s great then it’s not indie? That’s a silly way to define it.

Have some mid-sized studios co-opted the term? Sure. Expedition 33 is on that AA spectrum, but a game by a very small team? In what definition is Celeste not an indie game?

You’ll find that most people on Lemmy are not super keen on AI, and using an AI summary to back up your points will pretty much universally be met with ridicule.

I personally think it’s dangerous to use AI as a fact checker. It might be great a lot of the time, but you’re basically deciding that you’re fine with the random data and facts that it completely fabricates. To that end, “asking an AI if you’re right” is NOT functionally equivalent to “making sure you’re right.”

This kinda has bro science vibes. We don’t have nearly enough of an understanding of the brain to make statements like this.

Hopefully you know that “pro wrestling” is an incredibly broad term, and if you’re only thinking about WWE, you’re only getting a piece of the picture. But even beyond that, even if every single CURRENT production of pro wrestling was actually this “kitche” term that you describe, can you maybe see the absurdity in thinking that it’s literally impossible for it to be art going forward? You can’t imagine a compelling narrative that also includes some people doing over-the-top gymnastics on top of each other?

If it’s not your thing, that’s fine, but going out of your way to say “this entire genre is actually lesser than REAL art” is pretty silly. It’s judgemental and also pretty close minded. It’s what I used to do as a teenager.

There are multiple times where just showing someone’s face is a big reveal, but you’re expected to keep track of multiple versions / ages of various people AND their family connection and I just could not keep up with remembering who was who. Google Glass didn’t need to put nearly as much tech and power into their glasses as Snap has here. This is a full standalone headset with actual AR capabilities. It isn’t just some shitty HUD and a camera.

As with all tech, the early iterations have to make tons of compromises. Different companies are trying different things. These already look miles better than the earlier dev kits that they released.

I don’t think that Snap is expecting normal people to buy and actually wear these around in their day to day. They’re still very much a niche tech item that has some potential in specific applications, but it’s actually a pretty neat piece of tech. I think people making fun of how they look are missing the point (and they were never Snap’s audience to begin with).
