Never cared for the way this fellow tries to argue that everything is too difficult to be useful. I’ve gotten plenty of friends and family on XMPP and the clients that don’t have encryption on by default are easy to remember. Really blowing it out of proportion.

Honestly, what do security researchers like this even know about normal people? They sit through all kinds of inconveniences to use Facebook. This is a thought experiment.

Some of these are valid criticisms, of course, a lot of XMPP stuff feels like it from the 2010s. It’s still the only real option. Matrix client or server is bloated garbage, theu moved server fixes into a walled garden, its development is dependent on funding from the USA National Endowment for Democracy technology fund. Signal has similar funding issues and is very shady with its centralization, trust issues, demanding phone numbers. Sets users up to leak all kinds of stuff in notifications like Matrix.

The strange insistence that only Signal meets their requirements makes me skeptical, as does the way they have operated in Github threads. They seem like an emotional nightmare to work with.

Words mean things. People don’t always mean the same thing by them. These definition games are pointless. White supremacy backs up a completely different kind of racism than “go white boy go!!!”, people are still being lynched and discriminated against for jobs in America to this day. It’s also attached to the world’s largest capital centers. It wields actual power via that discrimination!

It’s time for you guys to decide whether you want direct war with Russia or not. Imagining that they aren’t ready for it, and this is just a diversion, is seriously risky. I’m nervous with how Europeans are getting bolder the more Ukraine fails to fulfil its military objectives. Nobody is doing more than doubling down on political narratives that were dry in 2022.

Are you saying those people are incorrect to point out that incidental prejudice against white people doesn’t uphold an institution of racism? Racism as it has been run by Europeans is a system that manages access to capital and disciplines workforces in the imperial core. That is more of a threat to white people than being called a fucking crackeroid

The entire US economy has been running off of an asset megabubble that demands global dollar recycling via Wall St. and property for decades now. This is much worse than 2008 as there is no cushioning. We will see what 20+ of doubling down looks like in the end.

I’m sure the people with their houses getting raided love to receive solidarity like this.
