    What if we built walking and public transport options with the same zeal as we did lanes and parking lots? In contrast, can Americans even imagine a world in which government neglects private transport, and doesn’t assiduously build a path for cars to every conceivable destination?

    In short, the lack of public transport is a deliberate policy choice, rather than a problem with public transport per se.
