Do they remember smells? How long does their memory last? What are their first memories?

Since smell is so important to dogs I’d assume so.

I have aphantasia, so I don’t remember visuals at all. I do remember sensations, sounds, and smells quite keenly though.

Every time I hear about aphantasia it blows my mind.

I don’t remember much more than the visuals, so I can’t imagine not having them at all.

Well, equally so I can’t imagine what it’s like to picture things. I’ve a friend who can visualise things like they’re physically there and that’s just bananas to me.

It can suck sometimes too, though. Me and my partner are long distance, and though they’ve visited I don’t remember what they look like.

I obviously have a general idea of their looks, I’m not blind and I can recall an overall description, but when it comes to details it’s more the feelings associated with certain things that stuck with me. Like the sensation of the particularly curly hair around the temple. Or how they smell.
