    I suppose they could’ve included the ads in the firmware that comes with the monitors and then display them as an overlay in the similar vein as monitor settings or any of the gaming enhancement overlays certain monitors offer. Though then they couldn’t change out the ads without also including internet connectivity within the monitors… and you’d need to use the buttons on the back of the monitor to navigate to/out of the ads

    So including them in an auto-installing app is probably the more convenient option. Either way, we shouldn’t give those cunts any ideas ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯
