At first I thought the title meant ads were somehow baked into the monitor itself, but Windows auto-downloads LG drivers and the LG software has pop-up ads. Which is still awful, but not as dystopian as I first thought. lol
Oh, ffs.
Yea, not quite as bad, but holy hell fuck you LG
I suppose they could’ve included the ads in the firmware that comes with the monitors and then display them as an overlay in the similar vein as monitor settings or any of the gaming enhancement overlays certain monitors offer. Though then they couldn’t change out the ads without also including internet connectivity within the monitors… and you’d need to use the buttons on the back of the monitor to navigate to/out of the ads
So including them in an auto-installing app is probably the more convenient option. Either way, we shouldn’t give those cunts any ideas ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Yea, after my shitty ass tv getting worse over the last couple of years, I think it’s time for a good old “never buying an LG product again”. Stance
I gave away an LG TV from 2008 a couple years ago that as far as I know still works, the LG TV I bought in 2019 is already dead. I also will never be buying another LG, which sucks because they were my preferred monitor brand too.
Is there a TV brand out there that doesn’t fucking suck so hard?
