I feel for all the victims and their families. This is a horrible crime and some might say this is justice served.
This development is suspiciously convenient for far right politicians in the upcoming elections in Berlin however. They will certainly ramp up their racist and xenophobic rhetorics now and the police won‘t look much deeper into it now that the suspect is dead. Currently the left is clearly leading the polls but that might change because of this.
Of course I cannot prove anything. This is more of an outspoken fear but there are international and national powers that clearly profit from this. Especially Russia is known to not shy away from terrorist attacks as they have likely been behind one in December 2024 during election season in Germany.
It might have been an islamist extremist acting on his own. I‘m afraid we will never know for certain since the suspect is dead, though. The far right has clearly already made up their mind about this.

Die Linke are leading with 20% though. What makes you think they couldn‘t possibly lead the polls in Berlin and why didn‘r you just look it up like I did?
I’m not thinking ‘they couldn’t possibly lead the polls’, don’t put words in my mouth. I did look it up, and all I’m saying is a few percentage points ahead (only since a couple of months, mind you) is definitely not a ‘clear lead’. It may even be within the margin of error. I’ve also noticed extreme right/populist parties tend to be somewhat underpolled (at least in the USA, and also in my own country). So it would behoove you to be a little more cautious.
and CDU, AfD and Green are within a few percentage points of that. That is not a clear lead. All four of them rather easily could win the election and in the end it is likely to be a coaltion between Greens and social democrats with either Linke or CDU. So nobody besides the AfD can afford to be really dirty.
