If they’re going to Singapore, do tell them because bringing durian on public transport can get you in trouble. I think it’s just a fine and not a caning but still.
I still find the signs funny: don’t bring toxic waste, flammable liquids, explosives … or durians.
Not singapore but I am very serious about not allowing them to disgrace themselves in any way abroad. Too used to visiting hitler countries. Could be bad. Im nervous

Definitely tell them. You would want someone to tell you.
Do not surprise anyone with a durian. Warn them: it will either taste like warm creamy ice cream or a sock filled with spoiled onions.
There is no in between and its like surprising someone with ghost peppers: the surprise is not appreciated.
Give them fair warning. Don’t want to make someone accidentally hurl.
Surprise them for the free covid test.
