Unfortunately these weren’t the types of yachts they were going after. They were, AFAIK, going for yachts under 50ft. I’ve known of people who have a 40ft boat as their home, so these are not the same type of people as the billionaires on super yachts

It’s not “somehow” - the real economy is tanking precisely because the oligarchs have got so efficient at skimming the top off.

The suffering of millions is directly proportional to the wealth of the ultrawealthy. These things are not tangentially related. They are direct consequences of one another.

That is not true. That is the Zero Sum Game Theory they’re playing where one party takes all. What we need is to think more along the lines of Positive Sum, where all parties can win. Otherwise we’re just perpetuating a cycle of false scarcity and hoarding.

The problem is that the sum is positive, limited (with changing limits), and unknown. Everyone can benefit, but you can’t have everyone do better you still get everything you could possibly want. But you can get everything you could possibly want by keeping others from having enough, and since you can’t know the limit you can’t easily be held accountable

It’s so interesting that people can pretty easily be sold on the idea of starting a war that will kills tens of thousands of people based on geography that won’t really change much, but if you propose killing far fewer people in a move that will improve the quality of life for the majority of people on the planet suddenly you’re a monster.

I’d prefer a worse fate for them.

Say, working a “9-5” grind until they die like the rest of us to contribute to the society they live in instead of leeching from it.

“Somehow” as if it’s some great mystery and not because the 1% are siphoning off a bigger and bigger portion of the world’s wealth. All to use for their own amusement while recklessly destroying the planet and sabotaging any attempts to do anything about it.

How odd. Its almost as if the insanely wealthy are getting richer at the expense of everyone else. Not to worry, they earned and deserve it through knuckling down. It’ll trickle down anyway. It’s not their fault. If anything it’s the brown people risking their lives on unseaworthy craft that are to blame for everything being so expensive.

I live in Seattle. We have North America’s largest superyacht facility here: Delta Marine. Their starting pay ($22/hr) is less than the local burger place, Dick’s Drive In ($23/hr), and I swear to god I am not making any of this up.

This makes totally sense. Why should the workers in the field of work Which caters to people, who became rich by exploiting the working class, not also exploit the working class.

So clearly the solution is to guillotine billionaires become an exploiter yourself.

It’s getting close to the point that the only thing that needs to be tricking down, is blood. We’ll worry about the money after that. There should be plenty of leftover money with nobody to use it anymore. We can put it to good use.

It’s odd how this particular multibillionaire often seems to be given a pass, just because he once left Microsoft to head up a company that made some good games.

At first I saw that among his fleet of 6 ships, that he has a research vessel and a hospital vessel. I thought, “Ok, funding research and a fucking full on floating hospital that he can send to disasters and places in need. That would actually be pretty fucking cool.”

But, then I kept reading “a full-fledged hospital, serving as a safeguard for the cruising billionaire during the COVID-19 pandemic”. 🤦

It’s a “support” vessel that follows his main yacht around in case he needs medical care.

He’s create a fleet that he, his family, and his friends can escape to when the revolution comes, and Sociopathic Oligarch families start losing their heads.

He’s not the only one. When this is over, we will task a military outfit to hunt down superyachts, arrest the occupants, confiscate the yachts, or destroy them if they resist. With satellites, they shouldn’t be too hard to find.

I know Lemmy loves him, but if he’s got fleet of superyachts, he’s part of the problem.

Tax their fucking wealth. We should be voting en masse for wealth taxes. They are just social parasites that extract wealth from the rest of the population while killing it. !twnw@fedia.io
