It’s so terrible that the stock jumps up on news like this. All of those assholes already rubbing their hands going: “Yeah, we’re going to make so much money from cancer patients. Fuck yeah, bleed em dry the suckers”.

Instead of a rational world where we make sure these kinds of companies or labs are doing good and have money to do their thing. But once a new drug is developed we make sure we can produce it cheap and safe in enough quantities for patients to get treatment.

There’s absolutely no need for the insane profits we’re seeing recently. We can run the world just on normal profits. The CEO would still be a millionaire, the fat cats would still be fat. But we can make sure everyone has access to stuff they need without going bankrupt. Or in civilized countries, without our collective money flowing into big pharma companies (and especially the owners, higher ups and shareholders).

As a species we’ve lost our damned minds.

This is hopeful news for people who unfortunately already have skin cancer.

However, even if this were to be successful and accessible, prevention is still always superior to treatment. Wear sunscreen folks! There’s like a million reasons why it’s good for your skin.

I had a lady tell me that sunscreen gives you skin cancer. She was a nurse that quit during COVID because she refused the vaccine. That was a miserable conversation.

There is this football player, very famous, he was on the wining world cup team. That’s a solar cream negationist.

He has videos saying that people needs to make solar callus taking sun all the time and they won’t get cancer.

If you ask me he should be in jail, he is going surely to cause many deaths.

But here we are, the new crazy people bogus is that solar cream is somehow something bad.

Is… that study not about damaging DNA if inhaled? I do not often inhale sunscreen.

Plus, DHA is used for tanning. Not exactly sunscreen.

it’s used in tanning lotions. If you smear chemicals on your skin, they get ingested.

Crush some garlic in the palm of your hand. You’ll taste garlic.

Yeah, I’m not using tanning lotion. I’m not talking about that. And they might get ingested- I don’t… really agree with that, but even if that’s true they won’t get inhaled.

yet somehow people think “big Pharma” is hiding “the cure for cancer” because they make more money from chemo and shit. “big Pharma” is not a monolith - the developer of the treatment (and stockholders) would make tons of money from it.

I’ll say this over and over until I’m dead.

If you want people to stop believing conspiracy theories about the health industry, stop making it so damn easy.

But only until the patents expire. They’ll run out of cancers to fix and then the money train is over. Not curing things pays off forever.

Also, if a cancer treatment that cures you is $200, 000, but a cancer treatment that might put you into remission or might cause you to die costs $175,000, your insurance company will only help pay for the $175k one.

Unless a CEO was recently shot.

When advantageous to your position, I am 100% sure that you would say that they only care about next quarter. But now companies care about decades in the future when oatents expire?
