Also, substituting the sugar with a zero cal sweetener and the butter with a light vegetable oil spread.

The AI tools that are currently widely used are especially bad at performing these kinds of exact calculations.

No they aren’t. I ran it through gemini and it gave me a perfect answer. I double checked it against public values for nutrition.

Great, but you still had to check in detail to make sure it’s actually correct

Which is still less effort than doing it from scratch yourself.

I know you guys want to hate ai for everything, but it’s not as bad as you think it is.

How is asking an LLM and checking it against public values for nutrition less work than just using the public values in the first place?

Because to do it manually you need to find the sources for each of those values, then put it all in a table, then do the complete math.

Checking involves clicking the source link(s), then doing a quick mental calculation to see if it’s approximately correct.

Ah, gotcha. I thought you meant you looked up “whole wheat bread nutrition” and used those results to verify. Not that it would’ve made any more sense to offer that value as an answer since there’s so much variation in what can be considered whole wheat bread.

If you care about calories, it’s much more energy efficient overall to do it yourself and will burn more calories from your body to use your brain.
