    Are they being used as cheap labour, or being trained in skills that they can use when they get out?

    Hell, training people with drug dealing offenses in forklift operations alone would blow a hole in recidivism

      Article says that they are being given low-skill jobs like mowing and trash collection, in order to free up paid workers to tackle high-skill jobs.

      They will be paid a whopping $9 a day for effectively unskilled labour that doesn’t increase their post-release prospects kn any substantive way.

        oh that’s bullshit. Bullshit. Even when doing my 600 hours for my Ag/hort in the fuckin’ '90s I was getting fifty a day.
