I used to be very anti iPhone and anti apple, but Google has been slowly trying to change android into the same garbage that I was telling people to avoid. If it’s all trash, then whatever, just get what you like.

When there’s a decent Linux phone out there that can do everything I need it to do, I’ll swap. Until then I’ll just be annoyed I guess.

Apple is one of the shit pioneers, blazing a trail in new and unexplored avenues of shit, giving a horrific prophecy of the shit every other company will standardize in the following years.

It’s like getting an announcement of a new pandemic every year.

Any of the major tech companies is absolutely awful. You can’t escape them unless you live in a cabin in the woods.

Apple is fucking garbage every day of the year. So? So is every tech company. Apple just lies the most about being good, so it’s understandable they’d get extra hate from informed people.

Well, that and Apple is unique in the computer hardware world in having a horde of sycophants clinging to their coattails all the time, all just itching for a chance to argue with people over any perceived slight or insult to their chosen computer platform, of all the damn silly things. This makes it an awful lot of fun to razz them over it.

This is certainly down to Apple being a much more successful marketing company than computer manufacturer. For a significant portion of their customer base, the ownership of an iDevice is jewelry; a status symbol, or a token of inclusion among the “in” crowd. Its actual function is incidental.

All true. It also is annoying that many times some douche stood on a stage and excitedly announced 10-15 year old tech products/features as if they were groundbreaking and they are met with some of the loudest applause you’ve ever heard.

The security research world hands down agrees with the “lie”

Which I guess is strange that all the experts are deluded?

I tend to see more hate of people who use Apple products than smugness from people using it.

Like you’re projecting a lot about me as someone who uses Apple products, but I’m also a published security expert by day who knows what they’re talking about. But I’m just using this stuff for jewelry 🤷

Tech Tribalism is gross regardless of which side you’re on.

You have had your head in the sand for decades if you legitimately think no one treats Apple products like status symbols.

Huh. Well, add that to the list of many other things. Didn’t even know that one, but makes sense.
