France walks back valid criticism of the U.S. on human rights

France’s mission to the United Nations in Geneva has said it “regrets” criticising the United States over human rights in a social media post that triggered a diplomatic dispute which has delayed the arrival of a new French ambassador in Washington. In a post on X in late July, the French mission had criticised the United States for joining countries including Russia and North Korea in voting against extending the term of U.N. human rights chief Volker Turk.
So the headline is misleading and it is not about human rights criticism.
And that’s how they flushed down any respect I had for them.
They are remaining engaged rather than acting like Iran or North Korea. Sometimes you apologize to the unstable person with a gun.
You do make a good point. It just sickens me that the whole Europe is in this situation where we’re dealing with not only one but two insane leaders of huge countries.
Because they regret criticizing America?
We all have regrets. I regret taking a security guard job for 2 weeks, and feel I should rather have starved. But my regret is not an apology to security guards.
