I never cut myself on a SAK due to its retention failing. I even find it quite easy not to have the knife fold into my hands or fingers or something. Just don’t apply pressure at the wrong angle, and it’s not like easy to accidentally apply pressure at the wrong angle.
I’ll stick to my leatherman that I can open the blade with one hand, that locks well and that has a stiff spine to keep from bending or glancing off a cut dangerously.
Maybe you just need a much more heavy duty tool? A SAK is hands down the best knife to have in my pocket in my daily big city life. And it was originally developed for opening food cans and field stripping the swiss army’s rifles, not as a heavy duty outdoor survival and combat knife.
If you use the wrong tool for the wrong job, that’s on you, not the knife.
Also, knives that can be opened and locked with one hand are prohibited to publicly carry where I live, so not an option for me anyway.
And finally, since I read your other comment saying “swiss army knives does not have any good knives”, Victorinox, the company producing and selling SAKs, does have other knives and multitools, including more heavy duty variants with one handed, lockable and thick spined blades.
Switzerland proceeds to cut their hand badly from the swiss army knife blade not having a locking mechanism and folding under pressure.
But they did get rid of Microsoft
