EDINBURG, Texas (AP) — Quinten Martinez, pumping gas under a hot South Texas sun, remembers a time when fueling up didn’t require difficult decisions.
“Is it going to be groceries this week?” asked the 28-year-old Amazon delivery driver as he watched the numbers tick higher. “Is it gonna be getting gas in our tank to go to work?”
He shook his head when asked about President Donald Trump’s assertion last week that higher gas prices are a small price to pay for the war with Iran.
“I don’t feel like it’s a good trade-off,” Martinez said. “I don’t feel like this is good for anyone.”
Voters across the country, and across the political spectrum, tend to agree.
A lot of idiots will still believe the Republicans are “good at the economy”.
True, but given the GOP’s election losses in 2025 and 2026, not enough of them.
Not that it matters. Democrats won’t do anything about affordability either.
Yeah, the Democrats are a mix of assholes, ghouls, spineless jellyfish, and maybe some decent folks. It’s sad that that’s the best mainstream option, but I’d rather work with them than the frothing nightmares of the Republican party.
There’s no good way out of this hell. But at least some socialists have won some elections
I think we’re at the stage where we need a consitutional convention between states or just violence… like make the politicians scared to do ethical breaches.
