You’re saying the men in the woods were only scaring the women to help them achieve their goals? I really don’t see how they’re similar unless you miss the point of this comic (he’s helping her by pretending to come on to her in order to motivate her to jump out of the plane)

Yes, that’s the joke of the comic. Of course, it’s not as lighthearted if you think about it too much, especially with a modern lens, but then that’s like 90% of the time with this comic.

The point is saying that’s the same as the bear thing is super dismissive to the whole point of that thought experiment.

that’s an understatement. it aged as well as geordi from tng.

it is not the same as bear, it is worse. because now there is a person falling out of the plane that is panicking from two different things, the fall itself, and the attack she just underwent.

seriously saying “yes, he attacked her, but he did it to help her achieve her goals” is pure insanity and people saying that are exactly the people the women are running from towards the bear.

it is also quite stupid on a factual level. if she decides she does not want to jump, its her decision, she already paid and the instructor does not really give a shit. throwing terrified beginner out of the plane is not a good idea.

What happened to Geordi? Swell guy, ace engineer, saves the ship loads of times.

he was also creep to living person on the holodeck and when that person found out, he tried to guilt-trip her with “i am guilty of reaching out to you”. the author’s intention was to create “shy guy unlucky in love”, but ended up with creepy incel (before the term was cool). the character aged about as well as the “joke” we are talking about.

Meh, that was just one story arc, with his larger arc being about his chronic shyness / awkwardness with women. It seems weird to me to say that the whole character didn’t age well just because of that ep.
