you cant, unless you can somehow create a product(s) to compete with thiers to make them irrelevant. Disney has total control in florida, due to thier special district and them donating primarly to the GOP which allows them to expand elswhere too.

Become president, collapse the dollar and the economy, turn all allies against you, start wars with no benefit or obvious endgame, get the rest of the world to start a program of “Buy not-America”, wait a few years for new programs and businesses to start in foreign nations, have sanctions placed against you for being a bad neighbor, watch your local and international businesses collapse.

    🤞

I recommend politics. Local politics can get their presence in your neighborhood to chill, set examples for other municipalities, and lead to broader office (if done well). Legal, community driven, and fairly direct. Does require talking to your neighbors, sometimes in public, which is a substantial downside.

Failing politics, I think your next best bet is probably attempting to do some hacking/espionage work. LLMs make this more scalable than it used to be, and they seem pretty happy to hack big companies. Costs a lot of money, will enrich other tech bros with high probability, definitely illegal, and it’s pretty hard to do this hard enough to crush the business (tho if you can siphon enough money out???). But you won’t have to talk to a neighbor or speak in public, so that’s nice.

There are a couple answers talking about becoming more rich/outcompeting them.

If you become the richest person ever or outcompete them, you’d likely be worse than they are now, and then you’d be the one people would want to shut down.

This isn’t really a question about those specific companies, but what they represent. If you’re taking the question seriously (joke answers are fine of course!), then the problem can’t be solved by becoming like them or “beating them at their own game”, because that’s literally what caused the problem in the first place.

The problem can only be solved by living a non-greedy life, abandoning “career advancement” or similar, and instead doing “the right thing” at all times, even if it requires personal sacrifice. If you live your life that way, you’ll likely inspire others to do the same. In the end, the answer of course is “an individual can not shut these companies down”, but if everyone acted like I’m saying, then these companies would get shut down by no one working for them anymore.

In the end, you have to answer the question “if everyone acted like me, would the problem still be there?”, and if the answer is no, then you’re successful. That everyone does actually act like you is not really important.

And then hundreds of thousands of people are out of work at no fault of their own.

All these companies can go fuck themselves but I think of the individuals who are employed by them so they can survive.

I mean, if these companies are gonna exploit literally everyone without even bothering to pay their workers a living wage, then nothing of value will be lost.

Yeh except 100,000s of people will all be at the unemployment centre all looking for the same jobs that don’t exist and have even less money. Look at the bigger picture than just your own bias.

I’m not FOR these companies but there would be a massive negative flow on effect for so many people if someone came along and shut them all down in an instant.

Those jobs won’t actually go away.

There’s still demand for the products they’re producing and such like.

It just won’t be Nestle or whoever signing the checks.

Do you think Nestle just makes it and people are like “oh. alright guess I’ll just buy this?” ?

they produce the stuff they do because there’s demand for those products. If nestle stopped bottling water and selling it at inflated prices while being shitheels… someone else will step in to meet the demand that exists.

they may also be shit heels. they may not. but those jobs will largely still exist… and probably still suck.

This is literally the origin of the term “the customer is always right.” Imagine you create the world’s most perfect product. It is truly revolutionary. It meaningfully improves your customers’ lives, it is easy to manufacture and get to your customers, it is cheap, and it is durable. It is all of the things that a perfect product should be. And you have a competitor. This is a bad imitation. It’s more expensive, it’s less durable, it’s worse at what it does, and it’s more difficult to manufacture.

And yet, the competitor is consistently selling out, while you struggle to sell enough to make ends meet. Even though your product is better in every measurable way, you are selling the wrong product. The customer is always right, and in this example the customer wants the shitty (and more expensive) version. It doesn’t matter how good your product is in comparison. The customer is the ultimate driving force behind whether or not you’ll be able to sell anything, and is therefore always right. If you insist on selling your perfect (but unmarketable) version, it isn’t the customer’s fault when you go bankrupt. It is your fault for trying to defy the customer.

And you know what companies like Nestle, Amazon, etc are really good at? Finding what customers want. And yes, the customer tends to be stupid and short-sighted. But the customer is always right.

Would be especially effective against Nestle. Advertise that you’re going to poison products from the company, do it successfully, then advertise you’ll do it again.
