Cool, coolcoolcool, now where’s the graphic with the IRL non-white people cast with whites.

Because you wouldn’t be trying to peddle cherrypicked racist horseshit, noooo not your fragile ass.

You may kiss my lilywhite one.

Ohhhhh. I initially thought it was a joke about how Zendaya is cast in EVERYTHING, and was confused when I expanded the pic. It’d be funny if every character is shown cast as Zendaya.

this was not to do with skin colour but hair colour, hence the blog title “THE TRUTH ABOUT REDHEADED CHARACTERS BEING RECAST WITH BLACK ACTORS”

Yet Black refers to skin color.

You could easily have referred to redheaded characters being portrayed by non-readheaded white actors, like Mary Jane in the Raimi Spider-Man films and Jimmy Olsen in the latest Superman film. Why only point out when the replacement is Black?

Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock is the only one that ever bothered me. Not a lot, since Charlie Cox is awesome.

But there’s still tons of representation for redheaded women in the MCU, and there’s literally no representation for redheaded men. So any time someone makes these arguments and they don’t bring up Matt Murdock (which is literally 100% of the time), I know they’re full of shit.

I didn’t think you were racist or pushing any agenda 🤷‍♀️

Thinking about the article more, I wonder if it’s just difficult to find good redhead actors that fit the role. Red heads are pretty rare, I wonder how much that plays a role in this

          Hello!

nobody was advocating for hollywood to hire green skinned people or white skinned people, but simply people who have red hair to represent people who have red hair

you and @Tja@programming.dev seem to have rushed to be morally superior and smug so fast you didn’t notice that this was not to do with skin colour but hair colour, hence the blog title “THE TRUTH ABOUT REDHEADED CHARACTERS BEING RECAST WITH BLACK ACTORS”

Here is a paragraph from the post:

The problematic side is, what about the redheads or gingers of the younger generation? Unfortunately for them, their representation is slowly being whittled down to almost nothing, as the characters are not only taken from fair-skinned and ginger to Black but also to tanned skin with blonde hair, brunette hair, and essentially what Hollywood finds beautiful at the time.

So sorry to beat you over the head with your own inclusivity stick but representation matters to me 🙄

A decade ago I watched Lawrence Fishburne play Jack Crawford in Hannibal, and it didn’t bother me that Lawrence Fishburne was not white because I had no frame of reference.

Later I found out he was supposed to be based off a real FBI profiler who was white, and was depicted by white actors in the standalone films.

It still didn’t bother me. I think some of the reason was because Lawrence Fishburne’s version of Jack Crawford was my entry point, and he killed it in that role.

But most of the reason was because it didn’t feel forced. He didn’t feel like he NEEDED to be black, he just was.

The same cannot be said of other roles. I don’t care if Ariel is black, because I don’t give a shit about movies for little girls, but the fact that Disney deliberately makes these choices, knowing it will piss people off, is what pisses me off.

The dumbest choice yet was giving Snow White to someone who doesn’t look like porcelain doll. They knew what they were doing, and it feels so forced.

Do you really think that Disney was focused on what lonely white men think while casting these actresses for princess movies?

Because that makes you sound like someone who is so used to being the default demographic for everything that maybe you have trouble processing the idea that this specific thing just isn’t about you.

Yeah. I think people are downvoting you because they haven’t noticed that the examples are all of characters made less white, completely ignoring that the opposite is several times more common across all Western entertainment.
