I mean history speaks for itself - League of Nations collapsed and was supplanted by the just as shitty and corrupt UN.

I’d look for some history courses from The Teaching Company/The Great Courses or Wondrium on the 20th century. LoN/UN are direct results of the 19th and 20th century political landscape - understanding that history is crucial to comparing the two.

(I’ll admit my criticism of both is pretty harsh, there’s simply no way to have an ideal council of nations, it’s an effort to find some level of cooperation, and that’s always a major compromise).

It would probs fall apart pretty quickly.

From memory the League of Nations fell apart coz every country was considered equal and decisions needed a 100% unanimous vote - which led to super powers leaving coz any country big or small could just veto them. Plus im pretty sure anyone could leave at any time.

I know the UN favours super powers but has stricter rules about leaving, but how do you come up with a system where all countries are treated equal while keeping super powers at the table whenever something doesnt go their way?

Honestly i think it would play out something like… America wanting something (like allowing certain countries to freely use and develop AI algorithms) and a small country like Nauru voting against it and then America just walking out.

Or countries like China and Russia forming their own version of a UN and other countries eventually join for stability.

The UN has 4/5 permament members that are either fully embraced in fascist dictatorships, or steaming on the path towards that. They outright refuse to respect many of the tools utilized, and have proveb themselves hostile to basic human rights. (And France has a shitty record still, looking at Haiti for but one example.)

The Useless Nations has already been a catastrophic failure. I genuinely dont see how alternatives couldnt be better in some capacity.
