Correlate that with truck size.
Edit: can’t find a “size” chart, google and the rest are force feeding me “market share” as a size, not GVW or height. Height of hood could probably be part of the reason for increase in deaths, both driver visibility issues and more likely to cause head injury. However, a generic weight chart shows trucks growing in size more rapidly and overall weiging more than cars for quite a while.
Correlation != causation, but yeah. Might be a thing.
It’s even scarier because I’ve seen fewer and fewer people outside walking over the years. I’d imagine that it’s more dangerous than it seems.
I imagine it’s just one more contributing factor as well as significant phone use while driving, awful infrastructure, near non-existent requirements to get behind the wheel, and just generally terrible driving culture.
I got my first speeding ticket ever this year (whoops…) and elected to do traffic school. It was all online, like $10, and you just keep taking the test until you pass. It’s just a stupid formality that teaches no one anything.
