Starlink infrastructure faces sabotage attacks in Poland, Bulgaria, and Lithuania, threatening vital internet connections for Ukraine’s military and civilians.
As with many folks on Starlink, they didn’t have much of a choice. ATM, there’s nothing comparable in orbit and landlines are vulnerable on a battefield.
That private company also massively depends on government contracts and subsidies. They wouldn’t dare pull this kind of shit if it wasn’t approved or even initiated by their government. I do agree that this is not the kind of operation that should be in the hands of a private company, but I don’t think it would change anything in the current situation.
seems weird for a nation to depend on a private company (that presumably has the right to refuse service to anyone)

It is weird. It’s also the current situation and damage to starlink hurts Ukraine, no matter how strange and messed up it is

Hah, welcome to western defense doctrine and the military industrial complex
